TAD Urgent Grants

This decision process is intended to assist Airport Sponsors and should be utilized as a tool only. This shall not supersede any federal, state, and/or local requirements on emergency situations.

Is this the result of a natural or man-made event that warrants action to save lives and protect property and public health?

Adhere to Sponsor’s Airport Emergency Plan, issue a NOTAM, and consider airport closure procedures in accordance with FAA guidelines. Notify TAD.

By definition, this does not fall under an emergency, and thus cannot be funded with an urgent grant.

Can the concern be temporarily fixed and mitigated without endangering the safety of the flying public?

Airport Sponsor should undertake any feasible actions to achieve this first.

Are there any immediate environmental concerns?

Refer to NEPA Emergency Alternative Arrangements and coordinate with a TAD NEPA specialist.

Follow the latest version of the TAD Environmental SOP and coordinate with a TAD NEPA Specialist.

Is this replacement or repair payable by the Airport Sponsor’s available emergency reserve fund (local budget)?

Airport Sponsor to commence urgent project in coordination with TAD and discuss potential reimbursement options.

Is there any available Airport insurance, legal recourse, or funding through another agency responsible for disasters?

Follow the appropriate 3rd party protocol.

Explore local low-interest bond and/or loan options.

Apply for the grant in grant management system.
